Ashton Court: choose the activity and course carefully
Bristol City Council’s golf page lists two nine-hole golf options at Ashton Court Estate: a flatter accessible course and a hillier course. It also lists FootGolf and Disc Golf, which are separate activities. Specify ordinary golf when arranging your meeting.
The council lists club hire, including left-handed and junior options. Ask about availability if you need equipment and check the return deadline. A short-course meeting can be useful for getting to know someone without the time commitment of a full conventional 18-hole round.
Getting to the golf entrance
The council identifies the golf location by the Clifton Lodge entrance on Abbots Leigh Road. It also warns that the car park is often full at weekends. Check the current travel information before agreeing an arrival time and consider how you will carry your equipment.
The estate’s opening times and the golf operation’s closing times can differ. Confirm the golf closing time and last equipment hire with the venue, particularly for an afternoon visit. A park being open does not necessarily mean there is time to start your chosen round.
Moving from a short game to a society
After a first meeting, discuss what both players want next: another short round, lessons, a full-course visitor booking or an organised golf day. This avoids one person expecting competitive 18-hole golf while the other wants occasional relaxed practice.
