If you are looking for golf societies in Sheffield, make sure you distinguish the course operator from the club or society organising games. That distinction can save time when booking a visitor round, asking about competitions or trying to meet regular players.
Use current Sheffield booking information
Sheffield City Council confirms that Everyone Active took over Beauchief, Birley Wood and Tinsley Park golf courses in January 2025. Older pages may still refer to the previous operator, so follow current venue information when booking.
Beauchief Golf Club’s booking page explains that green fees are charged by the round and that the online booking system requires registration. It directs booking-system enquiries to the operator rather than the club.
Use the operator for a tee-time problem and the club for questions about its membership or social and competition activity. Before your first game, check that everyone knows which venue has been booked; a multi-course operator does not make the locations interchangeable.
Pick the right part of Sheffield
Beauchief, Birley Wood and Tinsley Park give you different meeting areas to investigate. Start with where your potential partners live or work and what journey they can manage. For a regular evening game, convenience can matter more than trying a new course every time.
Ask about terrain, walking demands and current buggy arrangements if these affect your group. Allow enough time for arrival and checking in rather than planning to reach the car park at the tee time. If course conditions change, nominate one person to confirm the booking with the venue.
What kind of social golf do you want?
