A search for golf societies in Kent can cover very different journeys. A golfer near Sevenoaks may need a different meeting point from someone near Canterbury or the coast. Put your town and travel limit in your introduction before asking who wants to play.

A west Kent option to investigate
The Darenth in Shoreham advertises an 18-hole, par-72 course, casual green fees and society packages. It provides online and telephone booking routes. This makes it a useful starting point for enquiries about either a first visitor round or a larger organised day.
The operator says Shoreham station is within walking distance. If you hope to travel by train, check the walking route with your golf bag, the timetable and the return journey before committing. A station near a course does not guarantee that every tee time works with public transport.
Choose a casual round or a society booking
For two or three people meeting for the first time, a visitor tee time may be the simplest arrangement. For a larger group wanting food or several consecutive times, ask the venue about a society package and its minimum numbers. Confirm exactly what is included.
The Darenth publishes booking and cancellation information. Check the terms for the channel you use because online and telephone arrangements may differ. Make sure everyone understands the payment deadline and what happens if one golfer drops out.
Turn interest into a clear invitation
Try: “I’m based near Sevenoaks and looking for a friendly weekday round in west Kent. I can travel to Shoreham, subject to a visitor tee time. I’m comfortable with 18 holes and would like to meet other regular golfers.”
If you are newer to golf, say so and ask which format would suit your pace and confidence. You do not need to present yourself as an experienced competition player to ask about a social round. The venue’s entry conditions still apply.
Questions before joining a Kent society
Ask where the next few days will take place, how guests join and whether a handicap is needed. Check if “Kent” means a local cluster or travel across the whole county. A programme can look appealing but be difficult to attend regularly if every venue is far from home.
